Wildcrafted Dried Reishi Mushrooms (Whole Slices)

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is the Queen Polypore that flourishes in dark and damp forests. Known as the "Mushroom of immortality" and traditionally used to create potent medicine for emperors in the Han Dynasty this highly sought-after mushroom has many healing properties with a woodsy and earthy taste.

Suggested Rituals: Reishi is rich in water and alcohol/fat-soluble compounds that work well in decoctions, teas, herbal broths and oils. When Ground it can be added to beverages and consumed on the go!

Double Extraction (with Alcohol): Start with 1/3 parts (4 fluid ounces) of 40% or higher alcohol like Everclear to 2/3 parts (8 ounces) whole dried mushroom. Add dried mushroom to the jar and fill with alcohol (if more is needed add until mushrooms are fully covered in alcohol). Steep for a minimum of two weeks up to a month for optimal extraction. Once steeped begin pressing out liquid with a oil press, sieve, or nut milk bag until all the precious liquid has been extracted. Save mushrooms and put them to the side then move extracted liquid to a tinted and air-tight container and keep away from sunlight. (The process can be stopped here for a single extraction, we recommend following the next steps for a more potent double extraction).

Bring strained mushrooms to a boil in a pot for up to 30 minutes and allow to cool. Strain out mushrooms one last time in a oil press, sieve or nut milk bag until all liquid is extracted (You can then compost mushrooms or use for soup broths). Once the liquid has cooled add 2/4 part water extract to 1/4 part alcohol extract and add 1/4 part sweetener of choice. You can also do equal parts water and alcohol extract for a no-sugar option. Double extractions create a potent medicinal extract that combines high amounts of polysaccharides, beta-glucans and terpenoids for optimal medicinal benefits..

Slow Brew & Decoction: Simmer at low temperature for up to 8 hours (below 140 degrees Fahrenheit). Once brewed strain with a fine-mesh sieve and sip hot, warm or cool with your favorite sweetener. For a single serving we use 10 grams (2 tsp) of dried mushrooms to 8 ounces of water for a large very concentrated batch. For large batch at 4 oz of dried reishi to 32 oz of water.

On The Go: When ground into powder you can place 1 tablespoon Place 10 into warm or cold beverage of choice, herbal broths, baked goods or breakfast like oatmeal and yogurt.
